Chapter 12

Kingston

Weeks had passed and after finally gathering myself, I called a meeting with everybody to see where their heads were at. I hadn’t been back in the hood since everything happened, but that did not mean the streets weren’t talking. Nico was still trying to cope with the loss and we had spoken a few times already, but I had hadn’t really been in contact with anyone else besides my mother. Bitches I used to fuck with were blowing up my phone and my ex Sandy tried to reach out, but she already knew I did not fuck with her so I politely declined all of her calls. Regrettably, I knew I would see her at the meeting and hopefully she left me be.

Leaving work, I stopped by my house to change and get prepared to see everyone. The work at Boeing kept a nigga’s mind and body active, so I had been beating down the clock trying to keep sane. Remembering that I had a bottle of Paul Masson in my freezer that was in need of being opened, I took it out and placed it on the counter before hopping in the shower and washing off my body.

Reminding me that it had been a while since I had some type of release, my manhood grew as the water dripped down my body. I was tired of bringing forth my own relief and I damn sure didn’t have time to do so right now. Compelling him to go back down, I quickly washed and dried off so I would not be late.

Before I left I grabbed a shot glass and poured up my drink. Taking two shots back to back of Masson, I felt the slight burn in my chest from the strong liquor. It was necessary for me to be in my right mind, but my nerves needed to calm down. Ever since Kiki’s death, my temper had been flaring uncontrollably so the liquor would serve as something to mellow me out. Either way there was shit to be discussed and my bottle, my gun and I would be present!

As I pulled off from the house my phone rang, singing my mother’s tune.

“Hey Mama,” I answered, maneuvering through traffic.

“Hey Ninka, I haven’t talked to you in two days.”

“My bad Mama, I just had a lot on my mind,” I replied, knowing she must have been worried.

“When you coming by the house, you know Kaniyah has been worried sick about you?”

“Aww, tell lil sis I will come get her tomorrow so we can do whatever her little heart desires.”

“Lawd, this little girl will be calling you all day and harassing my nerves, so I’ll tell her in the morning,” my mother laughed.

“Okay, do that. I have some business to handle so I’ll talk to you later Ma.”

“Be careful out there Ninka,” my mother said before we disconnected the lines.

I pulled up at our meeting spot and killed the engine while taking another shot of Paul. I could see Nico and J.
